BEST Parents Teens Program

B.E.S.T Parents (For Teens)

After we launched our evidence-based group program – BEST Teens, in 2018, many parents and community groups reached out to us for further parenting support.

Our Principal Psychologist at Hargan Psychology, Christine Harding, the creator of BEST Teens, has examined the details and studied present-day parenting issues. She also heard from many parents, caregivers, and educators working with Hargan Psychology.

The BEST Parents (for Teens) is created based on all that compiled data and knowledge.

BEST Parents for (Teens) include 5 pre-recorded online sessions that busy parents and caregivers can access at their convenience.

Once they enrol for the program, Parents can attend Q&A sessions with Christine Harding twice monthly.

Being a parent to teens is not easy, and there is no handbook or workbook that can guide us!

BEST Parents offer extra tools in a parenting ‘toolbox’ that can help when facing demanding situations or behaviours.

What are we aiming to achieve with the program?

We want parents/caregivers to feel more aligned with their spouses/partners and others co-caring for their teens after finishing the 5 session program.

Parents are expected to:

  • Develop better insights into their own triggers and the effect of their development
  • Acquire tools and strategies that can help in their parenting role
  • Realise the significance of self-care and couple-care.

We are running the BEST Teens social skills program from our Hawthorn practice every Saturday morning, during the term, and mid-week during school holidays from the last 3 years.

During the years of facilitating BEST teens, Christine and the psychology team discovered that many parents and caregivers were still not confident with their parenting role despite using the worksheets and strategies given.

Parents/carers/educators constantly requested our BEST Parents program. The demand was even with the comments we received after initiating our private psychology practice, Hargan Psychology in 2019.

Christine and her team of psychologists could work alongside parents, grandparents, carers, educators, and community case managers to assist our young clients.

We frequently ask our parents…

‘DID YOU DISCUSS WHETHER TO GET MARRIED? DID YOU DISCUSS WHETHER TO HAVE CHILDREN? DID YOU EVEN DISCUSS WHERE TO HONEYMOON?’

BUT…DID YOU EVER TALK ABOUT HOW YOU WOULD PARENT?

This is not a judgement. The most common issue identified leads to confusion in teens and strain on marriages/relationships is being unaligned or inconsistent.

The BEST Parents program attempts to refine skills with parenting toolboxes, to help participants understand the impact of own parenting, to recognise unaligned values, to understand teen development, and importantly, to ensure that parents take their own care.

The programs are recorded to make it easy for parents to access at their own time. Worksheets are emailed (or posted if preferred) at enrolment in the program.

To ensure parents/caregivers are sufficiently assisted, Christine conducts live Q&A sessions to address any parenting issues or answer/explore any further queries that may arise during or after completion of the program.

Christine and her team have worked with many children and families and believe that early intervention to issues can get pleasing results.

We would be delighted to be a part of your parenting or caregiving journey in supporting your teens to Live their BEST Life.

Please let our Admin team, Jenn or Annie, know if you have any further queries.
